Current headspace

The first part of the year has been incredibly exciting. In February, I got engaged to fellow designer and Microsoft mobile device guru, John SanGiovanni, www.johnsangiovanni.com. Professionally, I have been busy with IA and graphic design projects for colleagues at the University of Notre Dame. I've begun a true information design project, my passion, for a Seattle-based security consulting company. This project includes some intense IA, usability and information visualization. I have also been busy working as a UI designer at Getty Images where I am designing their corporate internet. Below is an sampling of my recent activities as well as links to some of the work.

Wedding Collateral

Both John and I wanted our wedding series to reflect the season we were marrying, fall. It was a lucky coincidence to find a series of apple illustrations that complement the harvest. This has special meaning to me being from Yakima, the self-dubbed "fruit bowl of the west." John's favorite useless fact: you could feed the world for a day on what the Yakima Valley produces in a year. The first in this series, a save-the-date card will be sent out in April when the apple blossoms are in full bloom. The series will reflect the change in seasons as we prepare for the event.

Notre Dame Business Magazine Website Redesign

Notre Dame recently redesigned in business magazine and needed a website to reflect the new visual look. I have been working with my friend and former colleague, director of communications at the school, Mary Hamman. The site includes a new visual look as well as three flash pieces that serve as introductions to the feature articles. Some preliminary mock ups are below.

Information Design: Seattle-based Security Consulting Company

Information design is my passion. I enjoy intense information architecture, content restructuring and take special pleasure in visualizing complex information. This project is similar to the work I completed for the United States Postal Service. It is an opportunity to take complex information and make it more accessible for a wide range of client segments. It also includes some intense usability. More updates to come.
